My general observation of history is that the world doesn't end and that whatever people are worried about today, as bad as it seems, it's probably not going to be the end of prosperity as we know it. The world is far more resilient in its progress than anyone believes at the time. There is a constant rhythm to history: the markets go down, the media reports it as the end of the world, the markets recover and set some more records... and then the markets go down, the media reports it as the end of the world, etc. Since World War II we've had 13 bear markets (a decline of 20% or more), and so far we're 13-0 for this pattern. All scary things are merely the apocalypsedu jour.

And now, as I write this, there are more apocalyptic (humor me in the delightful irony of pluralizing this word) on the horizon. Will Israel preemptively attack Iran? If there is a war, will we get involved? What will it do to oil prices? Will Greece, alas, default (or Ireland, Italy, Spain or Portugal)? Will the EU stay together? Will our massive deficits ever come back down to earth? Who will win the election? Will America find its demise if the candidate you don't want to win, wins the election? I certainly don't know, but based on experience and history, my guess is that most of these won't happen and if they do they are more likely to not be the end of the world and at most a mere hiccup in humanity's permanently charging progress.

It is nothing new for people of the present day to worry that the next generation will not have it as good as them (your parents thought that about your generation too). Yet, with rare exception (usually in politically suppressed geographies), each generation improves upon their parent's standard of living. At a minimum, the odds are far better that the world will keep progressing than not regardless of whatever the fear of the day is.

I'm talking about the food industry which also includes the factory farm industry, the biggest killing machine in the history of the world and still expanding.

The essence of the food industry is meat and because of the massive amounts of money being made the industry has a disregard for the health affects of its products on humans, the enormous pollution caused by the meat sector and the cruelty and suffering of animals.

Food animals like cattle, pigs, goats, sheep and poultry have no animal rights like dogs and cats. They are frequently beaten and tortured before they are cruelly slaughtered. Because they are presented as food people eat them every day perhaps not knowing that they are senient, intelligent creatures that, like humans, feel pleasure and pain, sorrow and joy. Science is now discovering their intelligence, an example of which is a pig being the equivalent of a three year-old human.

The food industry is not concerned with the moral and ethical aspects of animals welfare. It is controlled by money, power, satisfying shareholders and constant expansion. It spends vast sums of money in advertising and public relations to promote food, most of which is meat based. Highly glamorous and sophisticated campaigns on TV and in magazines and other outlets promote how tasty dishes are.There is no mention of how the meat came to be there.

It's only some who see the light and are awakened to the reality of it all. Often they reduce their meat eating or stop it entirely in order not to be part of the cruelty and killing.

Gradually, however, the number of awakenings is increasing as more people realise the terrible reality of what mankind is doing. It's not just a matter of not eating meat and going vegetarian or vegan. It's not just a matter of extensive pollution and damage to the environment caused by the food industry. It's not just the moral and ethical issues of killing fellow animals.

It's what mankind is doing to his soul and his fundermental beliefs. Man is becoming a cold hearted flesh eating savage with no compassion, blindly engulfed by materialism and uncaring of nature. He is not happy nor content and in frustration fails to see that happiness and contentment is being aligned with nature and his fellow creatures.

If mankind eventually changes its current path future generations will look back on these times as man's nightmare when the planet flowed with the blood of his fellow animals and there will be shame and sorrow for what we are doing.

It can be stopped by people not eating flesh. It's a choice each of us can make right now. Eventually it would kill the killing machine that is the food industry.

World War 1 Ieper (ypres), Belgium

Belgium was an important chapter in the World War I. After the sudden occurence of World War I (Aug., 1914), Belgium was invaded by Germany in order to attack the French by the easiest route, this unashamed violation of Belgian neutrality shocked much parts of the world and brought Great Britain into the war, as one of Belgium's guarantors. The unexpected resistance of the Belgians against such heavy odds won widespread admiration, and German atrocities in Belgium, publicized by the Allies, played an important part in strenghtening U.S. opinion against Germany. All of Belgium except a small strip in West Flanders, which served as a battle front throughout the war (Ieper or Ypres), was conquered by Oct. 10, 1914, and the people suffered under a harsh occupation system. Ypres or Ieper, a Belgian municipality located in the Flemish province of West Flanders. During World War I, Ieper was the centre of serious and sustained battles between the German and the Allied forces. During the war, English soldiers nicknamed the city "Wipers."

The Allied forces captured Ieper from the Germans in the First Battle of Ypres (31 October to 22 November 1914). In the Second Battle of Ypres (22 April to 25 May 1915) the German force used poison gas for the first time on the Western Front and seized high ground east of Ieper. The first gas attack occurred against British, Canadian and French soldiers, including both metropolitan French soldiers as well as Senegalese and Algerian tirailleurs (light infantry) from French Africa. Of the battles in the World War I, the largest, most-known, and most costly in human suffering was the Third Battle of Ypres (21 July to 6 November 1917, also known as the Battle of Passchendaele) in which the British, Canadians, ANZAC and French forces recaptured the Passchendaele ridge east of the city at a terrible cost of lives. The key to successful grinding is to find a spot that has lots of creatures that are not to hard to defeat so you can go a long time just fighting and looting.

Using the World of Warcraft professions is another great way to make some money when you are starting a new character. There are two basic types of primary professions in World of Warcraft. One type is called a Gathering profession. This is just as it sounds, the gathering of items to be sold or used to create something else with. The second type is called a Production profession. These profession's take items and change, alter or combine them to create a new item.

If you plan on using profession's to make money be sure to choose the right profession that will benefit your characters class the best. Even the race that you choose can help certain profession's, making your character more skillful at that particular profession.

Playing solo rather than in a group will let you keep all the money and items that can be looted. This sounds great on the surface but can be very hard to do if your not careful. If you prepare well and solo properly, it can be very lucrative playing solo. Be sure to bring plenty of supplies with you. You don't want to have to keep returning to town for supplies when you could be fighting monster's. Most importantly try to fight monster's that are a little bit lower in level than you are. This will make it less likely that you would die and you will still get decent dropped item's.

There will be times where it will be wise to team up with other players in order to get past more difficult situations. When you do this, try to keep the size of the group as small as possible, maybe 2-3 other players so you don't have to share to much of the loot. When possible try to team up with other players that are at least 5 levels higher than you. They will be able to defeat your enemies much quicker and will tend to leave behind lesser item's that you can grab and then sell.
