Your Guide to Events Around the World This Summer

Norway

Venture to Bergen this summer for the Nightjazz Festival. The festival held from May to June will see over 60 concerts hosted at the former sardine factory and other venues dotted throughout the Nordic beauty of a city. Visitors are likely to experience a mix of jazz, rock and folk. Music plays an important part in Norway's heritage and modern culture so performances are of a really high standard.

Bergen itself is well worth a visit. Deemed the "Gateway of the Fjords" you can imagine the stunning views spanning across the rugged terrain. Its narrow streets and charming houses will charm visitors instantly. Locals are friendly and know how to cook mouthwatering seafood dishes.

Make sure you hop on at least one boat tour around the local area to take in the best views.

The Philippines

If you're a sporty, outdoorsy type then head to the Philippines this summer to take part in the Tour of Hope Philippines or join in by cheering along the hardworking cyclists. It's an annual event held from May to June to raise awareness of cervical cancer and get some funds along the way. Hundreds of cyclists hop on their bikes to tackle the 500km journey between Manila and Baguio. The atmosphere is uplifting as health officials are joined by other keen advocates for the cause. With the route predominantly uphill it's no easy feat.

Take the opportunity to explore the Asian island state. Popular attractions include the Chocolate Hills, Paco Park and Cebu.

United Kingdom

Though everyone's talking about the Olympics and Paralympics taking place in London and other cities across the UK from July to September, it's actually not the only big event of the year. Ever heard of Big Dance Week? Well it's taking place this year from July the 7th to 15th all across the country. Visit the dedicated website to find out where you could be putting on your dancing shoes to join in the fun. The festival is expected to be the biggest celebration of its kind ever held in the UK.

Some of the highlights include the Big Dance Pop-Up Cinema, Dancing Voices dance and choir project for the elderly and the grand finale Big Dance at Trafalgar Square in London.

As many of the concerts, workshops and similar events will be held in London hesitate no more and book yourself a central hotel in Westminster, Soho or other nearby neighbourhoods.
