Antiques are items that were manufactured over 100 years ago. Used items which are less than 100 years are considered vintage.

This very simple definition can create much controversy among antique dealers, collectors and even wine drinkers! There is only one official definition of antiques in the United-States from US Customs in the Smoot-Hawley act of 1930. It basically says that an antique must be over 100 years old to be called an antique. In Europe and indeed in many other countries around the world there are many more laws governing antiques which help to define the subject. The US lacks such a base and this explains why there are such a variety in quality of "Antique" stores and malls around the country.

An antique store in France (Antiquites) will have to be operated by a state approved professional that has undergone appropriate studies in art, history and valuation. Those that do not have this training sell in stores or fairs called "Brocantes" which must hold a "Livre de Police" or Police Book in which items that are bought and sold are listed to fight against theft. All others can sell at the "puces" or flea markets where no legal mention of authenticity can be maintained.

Such safeguards do not generally exist in the US so the market for antiques is a wild place where dealers can use the word antique to describe items from the 1940s or even sell reproductions under dubious terminology such as Antique Chest circa 1940s. Such terms help increase the value in the eye of the buyer but nonetheless it is only a used chest (unless it was made from a desired designer or manufacturer).

Using the word "Antique" can up the price on a very simple object. Keep this argument in mind, it will offer you more perspective on price and value.

Now vintage is even trickier as there is no institution such as the US customs to define it. Vintage is the term commonly used by people in the antique world to define objects that have some age and are as one says "of a particular vintage". We would define a chest of drawers from the 1930s as being vintage.

Now wine drinkers are not very happy with the use of the word vintage for anything else than defining the age of wines. However common usage has applied the word to the world of antiques and collectibles for over a century now in the US. Quite respectable really.

Lots of carriers ship items which usually look and feel poor well before they even go into the washing machine , since they have been terribly formulated to begin with, and in addition you will not be the only person to notice this, all people around will spot it as well.

Humorous tees should never only be comical, they have to look good also, as after all, comical t shirts are garments which will be displayed and observed by quite a few people. Generally, style along with attractiveness really do not seem to be taken into account, by the bulk of carriers that advertise cool graphic tees, which often is just a huge inconvenience for everyday people. So whilst a tshirt may be hilarious, that doesn't automatically require that it's going to stand out after people dress yourself in the tee shirt.rt.

An additional concern with businesses which generate funny t shirts, is that often they most often create these items for as quickly and cheaply as they can, so they can attain bigger income, however this results in the purchaser with a inferior quality item. Until you indulge in exhibiting junky tshirts which usually are faded in addition to falling apart, but not in a in style classic manner, you must should make certain you aren't placing your order via institutions who use bad forms of tee shirt manufacturing.

There are enterprises on the flip side, which always actually produce cool t shirts which are without doubt top quality, that will definitely look and feel extremely good. Keep an eye on trusty enterprises which usually supply excellent quality shirts, to help you to go back to these products before you go to get even more, without unjustifiably risking buying poor quality stuff. Be sure that you purely shop by means of establishments which realistically vend excellent quality attire, you shouldn't splurge your good financial wealth on poorly formed choices.

Several items which have proven to be printed through lousy image printing devices, for example heat press and / or direct-to-garment printing companies, will not look fantastic at first, but far worse, the visual diminishing which will certainly be a outcome of getting laundered or maybe getting moist, is sometimes really harsh, and therefore, service providers which use each of these image printing procedures must normally be sidestepped. Faded apparel artwork appears to be grotesque, specifically whenever the ink within the design smears on to other parts of this product, which sometimes could happen, also even worse, since the design excretes off, it would likely hurt different kinds of clothing items if the seaping item has exposure to goods.

Regarding vibrancy together with robustness, plot printing is about the finest, and so what you might probably desire to search for, concerning the manner in which your tshirts are produced. When buying, it is most probably a decent thought to be certain that any graphic printing strategies used upon the t-shirt is going to be 1 of the two special aforementioned tactics.

Any time funny tee shirts present entirely words and without design and style these products are actually judged to be uninteresting, and could look considerably better in the event they showcased any kind of visual. The great top rated cool t shirts show a suitable aesthetic model concurrently. The design on a regular basis helps make the t shirt funny, and in addition a great deal more fascinating and more luring.

When I asked soon-to-be 12 year old Ryann what kind of birthday cake she wanted she said, "Either a cookie cake or a chocolate cake". After deliberating which to make, I settled on both! I topped a chocolate-chip cookie cake with a rich chocolate cake, topped it all with chocolate butter cream frosting and, of course, birthday candles!

Unlike my friend Marianne Getz (Wolfgang Puck's pastry chef), I am NOT a good baker. However, I believe that Birthday Cakes should be made at home, with love, rather than store bought so...I made it myself...using mixes! Plus, rather than wasting $3.99 on the pre-made decorative colored frosting, I spent $.99 on white frosting and improvised. Unless you are really getting fancy, you can do it my way by using the vanilla frosting, food coloring, convection sugar...and a baggie!

Here's what to buy:

1 Krusteaz Chocolate Chunk cookie mix

1 Betty Crocker Devils Food Cake Mix

2 large tubs Betty Crocker Rich and Chocolate Buttercream-Style Icing

1 regular tub Betty Crocker Rich and Creamy Vanilla Frosting

All ingredients to make the cookie and the cake mix; eggs, oil, etc.

1/4 Cup confectioners sugar

food coloring for decorative writing and edging.

Directions:

Preheat the oven to 375-degrees and grease the bottom of two 11 x 13 non-stick pans.

Make the cookie dough according to the box directions and spoon into the pan. Wetting your hands with tap water, flatten the dough evenly across the bottom of the pan. Put into the preheated oven.

Make the cake mix according to the package directions and pour into the other prepared pan.

Bake the cookies for 18 minutes or until it is lightly golden. Take the cookies out and put the cake in. Let the cookies cool in the pan for 15 minutes before carefully flipping onto a cake platter.

Bake cake for the length of time directed on the box or until the sides are just beginning to pull away from the walls of the pan. Remove from oven and let cool in the pan until just barely warm. Use a long bakers spatula, or other long flat tool, to loosen the cake from the pan so as not to break it when removing.

When the cookie cake is cool, but before you place the chocolate cake on top, frost it with 1/2 of one tub of the Chocolate Butter Cream Icing. Carefully place the almost-cool chocolate cake on top and let cool completely. Use the remaining icing to cover the top and sides of the cake; I actually had about 1/3 of a container leftover but use as much as you desire.

To decorate the cake, first decide how many colors you will use and them divide the tubs of frosting into separate bowls to accomodate each color. Blend the frosting with the confectioners sugar; I used 1/4 cup of confectioners sugar to 1/2 of the tub of frosting but adjust as need to make the frosting thick but still moist and spreadable. Add a few drops of food coloring, if desired, and mix well.

Using a pint-size freezer bag, spoon the frosting into one corner and then barely snip off the tip of the bag. The bigger the opening, the more frosting comes out so I recommend starting small, practice on a plate or napkin and trim as needed to get the correct amount of frosting to write smoothly. Later, cut the opening bigger to do the sides, edges or accents.

Again...I'm no Marianne Getz but hey, it's a 12-year-old's birthday! My cake was yummy and brought big smiles and full mouths saying... Best. Birthday Cake. Ever. That's all I need!

If you enjoy decorating cakes or cupcakes, you know that there are certain cake decoration supplies that you need to keep on hand. But, let's say your child comes home from school, and announces that you have just been volunteered to bring a load of cupcakes to the next open house, which happens to be tomorrow!

Most parents have been faced with this dilemma at least once. But, there is no reason to get stressed or exasperated by your last-minute "assignment." Here are a few creative cake decorating techniques that will have you feeling more confident in minutes!

OK. So you probably already have the ingredients you need to whip up a quick buttercream frosting. Or you have a package of store-bought icing. No problem. You also have a few boxes of cake mix handy, which you keep around, "just in case."

So, today is that "just in case" day! But, because you really do enjoy decorating cakes, you refuse to just slap some frosting on some cupcakes and throw them in a box.

You want your display to be eye-catching! And why not? There is probably a reason why you are the person who was "volunteered" for cupcake duty.

This is where we bring in some unofficial cake decoration supplies you have hanging around your own yard or garden. And you might not have even known it!

First, think of the time of year. If it's autumn, you can line a tray with colorful leaves, and arrange fall flowers around and in between each cupcake.

In keeping with the autumn theme, you can make a quick stencil or cut-out from a lightweight cardboard in the shape of a maple leaf, and frost each cupcake in the shape of the leaf.

For winter theme, you can gather some pine cones or spruce branches and line the tray in the same way you did with the autumn leaves. If you happen to have candy canes lying around the house, you can add those to the display as well.

The same goes for spring and summer themes. Use whatever flowers and leaves that are in bloom at the time. Even dandelions and clover from the lawn can look absolutely beautiful among bright green leaves!

If you happen to have some checkered napkins and baskets, you can make a quick "picnic theme" display.

Depending on where you live, you can find wonderful additions to your cache of cake decoration supplies. For example, sea shells and sand, river stones, and gourds.

And, once you begin to look around the house, you'll likely find other items you can add as well, such as ribbons, tissue paper, wrapping paper, various seasonal decorations, scraps of pretty material, colorful dinner napkins, etc.

If you find yourself in a pinch and don't have a lot of standard cake decoration supplies like the decorator tips for roses or piping, don't panic. There's nothing wrong with taking a butter knife and swirling some of that simple frosting on the top of the cupcakes without fanfare. Not all cake decorating techniques need to be technical!

Take a look around the kitchen that you can also use that you might not have ordinarily thought of using on the cake or display. Do you have mini-marshmallows? Chocolate chips? Some raspberry or other jam? These can be used as toppings as well.

It's not a bad idea to keep a list of everyday items that you have around the house that you'll be able to call on when you find yourself in a pinch or faced with a last-minute "cupcake duty." With a little imagination, your "last-minute" efforts can look as though you prepared for at least a week!
